Buddhist education and research in Russia 

Foundation was established on February 15, 2022. 

Founders: 

- Ministry of Science and Education of the Russian Federation

- Lomonosov Moscow State University, Institute of Asian and African Studies.

- Institute of China and Modern Asia Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences

- Centralized religious organization Association of Buddhist Communities "Arya Sangha".

Main tasks:

- To assist, support and help Buddhist organizations of Russia in carrying out their socially useful activities in the sphere of education, science, culture;

- Assistance to the activities of Buddhist organizations aimed at consolidation of society and strengthening of the state,

- assistance in the protection and proper maintenance of buildings, objects and territories of religious, cultural or environmental significance;

- public assistance in cooperation between Russia and  Buddhist countries;

- support and assistance in organizing religious pilgrimages in Russia and abroad;

- organizing and conducting independent public and sociological research;

- assistance in the development of scientific and research activities in the field of studying the language, history and culture of Buddhism, support of scientific periodicals on various topics related to the goals of the Foundation,

- support of publishing activities, publication of textbooks, religious and popular academic literature

- assistance in the formation of a system of training and retraining of specialists with knowledge of the history and culture of Buddhism on the basis of interaction between secular universities, academic scientific institutions, Buddhist religious and educational organizations, as well as other non-profit structures with an educational profile;

Foundation’s activities 

The Foundation is a non-profit organization

The Foundation is not a religious organization 

- The Foundation supports educational programs on philosophy, history and culture of Buddhism;

- stimulates the creation of higher education programs in philosophy, oriental studies, religious studies related to Buddhism;

- conducts advanced training courses for Buddhist clergy and Buddhist scholars ;

- allocates grants for research, translations, publications (see here buddhistfund.ru for conditions)

- holds the Annual International Conference "Buddhism in a Changing World" (August 12, 2024, Ulan-Ude);

- publishes translations and works on the history, culture, and philosophy of Buddhism.
